<br>500g flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain<br>1/2 cup cornstarch<br>Oil, for frying<br>2 large green onions, sliced into 1-inch sections<br>2 cloves garlic, minced<br>For the sauce:<br>1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)<br>1/2 cup brown sugar<br>2 tsp fresh ginger, minced<br>1/2 cup water<br>1 tsbp hoisin sauce (or use oyster sauce as an alternative)<br>1 tsbp sesame oil.
<div class="method_step"><div class="method_num">1</div>Start by preparing the beef. In a bowl, add thinly sliced beef and cornstarch. Mix until all the beef slices are coated with cornstarch. Set aside for about 10 minutes. This process will make your beef slices tender once cooked.<br><div class="method_step"><div class="method_num">2</div>Heat the oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the beef and let it cook until crispy and brown. Be careful to not overcrowd the pan, so you may need to do this in batches. Once done, remove the beef and set aside.<br><div class="method_step"><div class="method_num">3</div>In the same pan, add minced garlic and ginger. Stir for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.<br><div class="method_step"><div class="method_num">4</div>For the sauce, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, water, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil in a bowl. Stir until well combined. Pour this sauce into the pan with the garlic and ginger.<br><div class="method_step"><div class="method_num">5</div>Add the cooked beef to the pan and stir until all the pieces are coated with the sauce. Allow it to simmer for about 2-3 minutes.<br><div class="method_step"><div class="method_num">6</div>Add the chopped green onions and cook for 2 more minutes while gently stirring.<br><div class="method_step"><div class="method_num">7</div>Remove from heat, serve your Mongolian Beef over steamed white rice, and enjoy!</div></div></div></div></div></div>
